About Girls Inc. of New York City
Girls Inc. of New York City (GINYC) inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, delivering life-transforming programs to girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth throughout New York City. Through education and advocacy, we prepare students to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers to advance to a more equitable world. Each year, GINYC reaches more than 15,000 young people at over 250 school and community-based partner sites, with a focus on engaging girls from communities of color and underserved neighborhoods. Our research-based curricula support the development of the “whole girl,” with life-transforming programs spanning the topics of mental and physical health, STEM, college readiness and retention, leadership, financial literacy, and more.
Implemented by trained professionals in a positive environment, GINYC’s research-based curricula equip participants in some of New York City’s most economically disadvantaged communities in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens to achieve academically, get into and complete college, lead healthy and physically active lives, manage peer pressure, navigate media messages, make sound financial decisions, and discover or expand interests in STEM fields.
