Girls Inc. of NYC Partnership Highlighted in “2025 Smithsonian Education Impact Report Released” from Smithsonian Magazine
Girls Inc. of New York City’s new partnership with the Smithsonian for a program on Girlhood & Power was recently highlighted in the 2025 Education Impact Report. The article highlights the new 5-week program with Girls Inc. of NYC and Girls Inc. of Alameda County participants, with additional collaborations planned for 2026. Each session empowers girls to explore identity, representation, and leadership through art, history, and personal storytelling. Leveraging historical case studies and artworks from the Smithsonian’s collections, participants investigate how girlhood is shaped by school, society, race, power, and self-expression—while developing empathy, critical consciousness, and the confidence to advocate for themselves and others.
